Ingredients

  • 2 cups short grain rice
  • 2 cups broth - low-sodium beef broth
  • 0.5 pound beef - thinly sliced, sirloin or flank
  • 1 cup broccoli - florets, roughly chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic - minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

Instructions

  1. 1.PREREQUISITE STEPS: Rinse rice thoroughly under cold water until water runs clear.
  2. 2.FOOD PREP: Slice beef into thin strips appropriate for toddler eating. Roughly chop broccoli florets into small, safe pieces.
  3. 3.Add rinsed rice to rice cooker. Pour in beef broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and minced garlic. Stir to distribute flavors evenly.
  4. 4.Place sliced beef and broccoli florets on top of rice mixture, spreading evenly across surface.
  5. 5.Set rice cooker to "white rice" setting and cook according to manufacturer instructions.
  6. 6.SERVING: Once cooking is complete, stir gently to combine all ingredients and fluff rice. Let cool to appropriate temperature before serving to toddler.
  7. 7.BATCH COOKING TIP: This recipe doubles easily and freezes well in portions. Makes approximately 12 toddler portions. Cool completely before freezing in individual containers.
